SPRINGFIELD – Kori Rodley, Ward 3 Springfield city councilor, has announced her candidacy for Oregon House District 7, the seat currently held by Rep. John Lively.
In her second term on the Springfield City Council, Rodley has chaired the Springfield Economic Development Agency and the Human Services Commission, and has participated in the Fire Governance and EMS Task Forces.
She has also led the city’s Legislative Committee, focusing on Springfield’s priorities with state and federal partners. Professionally, Rodley is part of the management team for Lane County Developmental Disabilities Services and has previously held leadership positions, including Chief Strategy Officer for United Way of Lane County and Executive Director at Junction City Local Aid.
In the Thursday news release, Rodley stated she has been focused on housing, affordability, and livability challenges in Springfield for the past 5 years.
“My commitment has always been to bringing creative problem solving, compassion, and the ability to work with a variety of people and different perspectives to tackling challenging problems,” Rodley said. “I understand our community and think of myself as a pragmatic public servant, guided by my working-class Oregon roots.”
Rodley has served on the City of Springfield and Springfield Utility Board (SUB) Budget Committees and was a past president of the Tri-County Chamber Board. Rodley is involved with various boards and committees, including the Home Governance Consortium and Emerge Oregon.
“Raising my children as a working parent informs my belief in the need to invest in livable neighborhoods and strong communities, with a focus on affordable, accessible housing. We have to tackle the cost of living in Springfield for our seniors and working families,” Rodley said. “We need to invest in small and local businesses, strong infrastructure, and encourage the creation of stable, family wage jobs.
Rodley has secured early endorsements from Lane County Commissioners Laurie Trieger and Heather Buch, fellow councilor Steve Moe, Representative Lisa Fragala, Congresswoman Val Hoyle, and local community members and businesses.
