Springfield Police Department Announces Promotion of Lt. George Crolly to Deputy Chief

SPRINGFIELD – The City of Springfield and the Springfield Police Department this morning announced the promotion of Lieutenant George Crolly to the position of Deputy Chief of Police following a national competitive recruitment process.

Deputy Chief Crolly brings more than 25 years of law enforcement experience to the role, all of which he has dedicated to serving the Springfield community. A U.S. Air Force veteran, Crolly joined the Springfield Police Department in 1998 and has served as a Patrol Officer, Detective, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. He also served 19 years on SPD’s SWAT team.

“Deputy Chief Crolly brings an entire career of dedicated service to the community of Springfield to his new role,” said Police Chief Jami Resch. “His unwavering commitment to the department and the policing profession positions him to help lead the Springfield Police Department into its next chapter.”

Crolly is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the Senior Management Institute for Police through the Police Executive Research Forum. He holds an Executive Certification from the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Portland State University.

Beyond his work with the department, Deputy Chief Crolly serves on the Board of Directors for Kids First and as an advisor to the Boys & Girls Club of Emerald Valley.

Deputy Chief Crolly will be formally sworn in at an upcoming promotion ceremony. Additional details will be shared once confirmed.
