Letters to the editor: Street construction impeding Creswell businesses

To The Editor:

Creswell is fortunate to have a great bakery like Creswell Bakery. They have fans outside of Creswell, those of us in Eugene who understand the value of a great bakery and local business.

We stop at Creswell Bakery on the way to meetings and to get something delicious to wow our friends and family with. Our moms ask us to pick up their wonderful sourdough breads. We love the bacon they make onsite. We have an excuse to go to Creswell and learn about it.

It has been a huge challenge for customers to get to this business now and navigate the road construction that has been going on for 2 months. We shouldn’t have to parachute into our favorite businesses.

Creswell Bakery is a destination business for many. It brings in people from other Oregon cities and other states who are on vacation. Businesses like Creswell Bakery pay local taxes and provide jobs. It’s a woman-owned, small business that has been in business for 12 years.

The Creswell City Council needs to expedite this road project that impacts local businesses. They should also visit the business in question to show consideration and listen to their concerns.
