SPRINGFIELD – – Springfield City Councilor Victoria Doyle has announced her resignation from the Springfield City Council. Doyle has represented Ward 5 since January 2023.
Councilor Doyle shared that she is stepping down due to increased responsibilities with her employer and a desire to prioritize family commitments. She hopes to remain plugged in to local politics from a citizen perspective, as this work is a passion of hers.
“It is with deep sadness that I submit my resignation,” said Doyle. “It has been an incredible honor to serve this community. I’ve learned so much and had the privilege of working alongside city staff and councilors who bring integrity and compassion to public service. I am proud of the work we’ve done together and I’m grateful to have been part of it.”
Springfield Mayor Sean VanGordon recognized Councilor Doyle’s contributions to Council and the Springfield community.
“Councilor Doyle has been a dedicated member of the Council and a long-time community volunteer, and we will miss her perspective on Council,” said Mayor VanGordon. “We thank her for her service and wish her continued success in her new role.”
The Springfield City Council will discuss the Ward 5 vacancy and the interim appointment process at a public meeting once Council is back in session. Additional details about recruitment and how community members can apply will be announced when available.
