Myra “Betty” Ekman passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025, at the age of 85, surrounded by her family. She was born in 1940 in Corvallis, OR, and grew up around Springfield, OR.
After high school, Betty moved to Newport, OR, where she met her husband, Robert Ekman, who was stationed in the U.S. Coast Guard. Together, they moved to Bremerton, WA, and married in 1961.
Betty was a loving wife, a supportive and cherished mother who also became a beloved adopted mother and grandmother to many in her circle. She built a successful career in medical administration, enjoyed camping, baking, and genealogy, and became a talented quilter, flower gardener, and crafter in retirement.
Betty is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert; her son, David Ekman; her daughter, Mary Ekman (husband, Don Hennick); her siblings, Marguerite Love and Michael Love (wife, Gloria); and her adored dog, Sunny. She will be deeply missed.
