“This, then, is how you should pray:
‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’”
– Matthew 6: 9-13
My father was one of my heroes. He had served in World War II, in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific. He was a Boy Scout leader for over 35 years, as a representative of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was active in our church as treasurer and head usher. He was a trusted leader in our community.
I didn’t always realize the impact he made on my life. I had volunteered and spent many years in the U.S. Army. I was a Boy Scout leader for almost as many years as Dad. I have been actively involved in our church, serving as a leader, Sunday School teacher, and choir member. One notable divergence: Dad was tone-deaf.
I realize that I was blessed as a boy to have such a role model. But as I have aged, I have learned how many times our Father God has been there beside me. I have recognized that Father God has protected me, not only from harm or death, but also in the choices that were laid before me. Father God has guided my steps, even before I began to believe in Him.
I pray that you may also have a blessed relationship with our God. I pray that you are with God on your daily walk.
