One of the hottest bands to burst upon the local scene recently is Natsukashii Soul, who will be appearing at Island Park on July 23 from 6-8:8:30 p.m. as part of Willamalane Park and Recreation District’s annual Summer Concert in the Park Series.
Meanwhile, the Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce Concerts in the Park Series schedule was also released. The first show is Wednesday, June 11, with the Hank Shreve Band, and the Jessie Leigh Band headlines the lineup on July 16. Leigh, from the tiny Oregon town of Estacada (pop. 5,421), has warmed up for the likes of Alabama, Luke Combs, Tanya Tucker, and Morgan Wallen.
Natsukashii Soul – which translates to nostalgia or reminiscing, especially in a good way – takes its fans back to happier times in their lives, giving jazz standards a more upbeat feel.
That’s been the goal of their music since Day One.
When band manager and trumpet player Frank Visconti and keyboard player Vince Panero first met singer Autumn Rose, they knew right away that she was the real deal. They wasted no time, forming a band after that first jam session a couple of years ago.
They shared an interest in acid-jazz, and they’ve been rocking Eugene-area stages with their funky, soulful sound ever since.
Natsukashii Soul is also playing three sets at the Oregon Country Fair: July 10 at 8 p.m., and July 11 at 3 and 7 p.m.
