Leading off: Cottage Grove, Creswell, Pleasant Hill, Springfield, and Thurston athletes head off to Hayward Field to compete in the state championships. There were many state qualifiers with notable performances in districts last week to look out for. For Cottage Grove, Hayes Valley was the district champion in the 110-meter hurdles (15.39) and overall a top scorer at the meet with 30 points in four events. Carter Bengtson was the district champion and new meet record holder in the 3000 meters (PR of 8.32.42). Representing Creswell, Journey Meyer was the district champion in the 200 meters (PR of 25.76) and 400 meters (PR of 58.10). Kylie Leonard took the title for the 300-meter hurdles (PR of 46.39). Creswell girls also took first in the 4×400. Vika Gabrio was the district champion in the Triple Jump (10.87 PR). For Pleasant Hill, Cody Jones (47.86m PR) was the district champion in the Javelin. Representing Springfield, Noah Solo was the champion in Shot Put (14.65m PR). Leila Kammerzelt-Murphy took the title for Discus (32.90m PR). For Thurston, Tyler Raven was the champion in the Triple Jump (13.98m PR). Brooklyn Anderson was the champion in the 100-meter dash (12.22 PR) and the 100-meter hurdles (14.40) PR. The Thurston 4×100 girls team also took first overall. Lastly, Kelsie Raven was the champion in the Triple Jump (10.92 PR).
