Free, easy recycling for Springfield residents this Saturday

SPRINGFIELD – The City of Springfield invites residents to clean up their homes and neighborhoods by disposing of unwanted items at the annual Spring Cleanup event. Join us Saturday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at EcoSort in Glenwood, 3425 E 17th Ave.

This free recycling event provides Springfield residents a convenient opportunity to drop off large or hard-to-recycle items such as TVs, appliances, scrap metal, scrap lumber, electronics, computers, yard debris, clothing, furniture, and more.

For the safety of staff and volunteers, loads in enclosed vehicles, such as moving trucks, will not be accepted. Please also note that paint, household garbage, chemicals, fluorescent lights, car parts, dirt, and oversized items such as hot tubs and boats will not be accepted. For a complete list of accepted items, visit: bit.ly/SpfldORCleanup

“Spring Cleanup is about more than just getting rid of unwanted items; it’s about caring for our community,” said Jeramya Stephens, organizer of this year’s Spring Cleanup. “This event gives residents a free and convenient way to recycle or dispose of items they no longer need, which helps keep our neighborhoods clean and safe.”

Thanks to Sanipac and their EcoSort facility in Glenwood, which provides an efficient drop-off process with ample space and on-site support. Depending on attendance, please be prepared for a short wait.

Please note that this free event is exclusively for City of Springfield residents within city limits. Proof of residency will be required. No businesses.
