THURSTON – Thurston High School officials announced Monday that Kayla Devereaux would be the school’s new girls volleyball coach.
It’s a return to the Thurston family.
Devereaux, a Thurston alumn, played collegiate volleyball at Bushnell University following her prep career with the Colts.

Devereaux played for the Beacons from 2016-2019, earning First Team All-Cascade Collegiate Conference honors in ’19.
At the time of her selection to Bushnell’s All-Decade Team in 2020, she held the school’s single-season record for digs, ranked fourth all-time for career dig, and was a three-time CCC Player of the Week.

From there, she has “built a strong coaching résumé, including years of experience as a club coach, high school coach, and instructor at both college and high school summer camps.”
“Her commitment to athlete development, teamwork, and building a positive culture on and off the court makes her a perfect fit for our program,” Thurston Athletic Director Justin Starck said.
Starck said there would be a meet-and-greet in the Thurston library soon.
“We’re thrilled to have her back in the Thurston community and can’t wait to see the growth and energy she brings to our team. Please help us give coach Devereaux a warm welcome as she begins this new chapter with us,” Starck said.
Thurston’s former head coach, David Natt, left Thurston after five years and a 60-40 coaching record.
