CANDIDATE COLUMN
As a 5th-generation resident of Lane County, I wish only for the success of all our students and staff. I love Cottage Grove and live in the core of the Historic Downtown. I moved off the farm and into town in 1975. My six adult children attended the South Lane School District. I have, through the years, attended many school board meetings and countless parent-teacher conferences, and have many teachers among my close friends. I am a devoted advocate for a high level of success in our district.
We are a strong community of involved citizens. I believe in keeping jobs local and not outsourcing our districts’ food services, transportation, and maintenance functions, as has been recently discussed. I believe strongly in Parental involvement. This will help with transparency and rebuilding trust in our community. This can also help the staff and will benefit the students’ education. We can and will do better, and we will take pride in our future success.
