Weekend spotlights: The first weekend in May at play

■ Kick-start the weekend early by visiting the Cottage Theatre on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. while it’s hosting the Cottage Grove High School Performing Arts Department for their annual Metropolitan Rhythm & Blues Revue at 700 Village Dr. This fund-raising event features student performers working alongside professional community musicians. The funds from this event support the high school arts program. If you miss opening night, that’s okay because the show continues on May 1-3 at 7 pm and on May 4 at 2:30 pm. Tickets are $20.

■ On Friday, the London Grange is hosting its annual plant sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 72746 London Rd. You can find the grange just south of Cottage Grove, near milepost 10. The plant sale will feature a diverse selection of vegetables, flowers, hanging baskets, succulents, and more. The sale will continue on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., along with a blueberry pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Call 541-942-6148 for more information.

■ Let the kiddos have some fun, too! Take them to Toddler Time from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, at Willamalane Adult Activity Center. Children aged 1-5 enjoy various activities, including a mobility circuit, arts and crafts, a dance party, and plenty of social time with snacks included. It‘s an excellent way for parents to connect while the kids have fun in a safe place. Register in advance for $7 or pay on the day for $9.
