Creswell athletic director takes job at North Bend
CRESWELL – Brandon Standridge, Creswell High School’s athletic director for the past six years, announced his next career move on social media Monday night.
Tuesday, he took a day off.
On June 30, Standridge will leave his roles as athletic director and assistant principal at Creswell to pursue a bigger challenge: full-time athletic director at Class 4A North Bend High School.
“It was a super difficult decision for me and my family,” he said Tuesday morning. “We’ve been here six years and had our kids here, and people have treated our family like their own. But … we felt like this job was a job that just doesn’t come around very often, and had to take the chance when offered.”
This will be Standridge’s third athletic director position. He said his main appeal for the opportunity was the full-time commitment to sports. North Bend offers a larger student body, which includes almost twice as many students as in Creswell, and provides a larger athletic community. The new role involves fewer administrative tasks, allowing him to focus on athletics.
“It was largely because I get to focus 85% to 90% of my day on athletics,” Standridge said. “I’m not disciplining and doing attendance – I’m not doing those things that were starting to get pretty emotionally draining for me as an assistant principal. I get to take time off and go watch stuff. I don’t have to worry about supervision and investigations – I can focus on my passion.”
Standridge said he feels that he left Creswell “better than he got it” and is content with the state of Creswell’s sports program.
