This weekend is jam-packed with events to enjoy with the whole family. 

Friday, April 25, the Art Walk in downtown Cottage Grove starts at 6 p.m. This month’s Art Walk is celebrating The Bookmine’s 50th anniversary. Enjoy a springtime evening when you take a stroll downtown, see beautiful art, hear toe-tapping music, and a few tasty treats. More than a dozen downtown businesses are participating in festivities.

■ Speaking of The Bookmine, Saturday, April 26, is the store’s official anniversary at 702 E. Main St. The celebration will continue from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. of this milestone for Cottage Grove’s oldest bookstore and community gathering place. ■ Round out the night with a Disco Night Skate Party at the Bob Keefer Center, from 6-8 p.m. Step into the ultimate retro experience as the Bob Keefer Center at 250 S. 32 St. in Springfield, transforms into a dazzling disco haven. With a live DJ spinning beats and shimmering lights to set the mood, it’s a night to skate and dance like it’s the 1970s. Registration is not required to get your groove on. Bring your own safety equipment and roller skates, or borrow equipment at the event. $8 in-district/$11 out-of-district.

■ Powerful Tools for Caregivers Workshop Registration Opens. Join LCOG Senior & Disability Services for a free six-week workshop in Eugene for anyone 18 years and older who provides care for a loved one 60 years or older. ■ El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day), 5:30-7:30 p.m., Guy Lee Elementary School, 755 Harlow Rd., Springfield. Free food, books, performances, crafts, activities, and fun for the family.

Last Friday Art Walk, 6-8 p.m., Downtown Historic Cottage Grove. View art, check out the businesses, enjoy music, and support your community.

■ Spring Marketplace, noon-5 p.m., Bob Keefer Center 250 S. 32nd St. Enjoy lunch and live entertainment and browse locally crafted handmade spring décor and gifts, such as birdhouses, garden art, collectibles, home decor, plants, gourmet treats, and more. Continues April 26 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

SATURDAY, APRIL 26

■ Household Hazardous Waste Roundup, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Lowell Rural Fire Station, 389 N. Pioneer St. This free event will collect up to 35 gallons of household hazardous waste per customer. Call 541-682-4120 for more information.

■ Spring Fun Festival Fundraiser, 10 a.m.- 3 p.m., 926 E. Main St., Cottage Grove. Twinberry Commons and Coast Fork Farm Stand present a fundraiser dinner with product tasting, art, food, raffles, music, and more. Dinner is 5:30-8:30 p.m.

■ The Bookmine 50th Anniversary Celebration, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., 702 E. Main St., Cottage Grove. Celebration of this impressive milestone for Cottage Grove’s oldest bookstore and community gathering place.

■ Free Compost Giveaway, noon-4 p.m., Center for Rural Livelihoods, 80574 Hazelton Rd. Presented by Lane County & Center for Rural Livelihoods (Also available after May 3 at Community Sharing).

■ Independent Bookstore Day Celebration, 1-3 p.m., Cottage Groove Books & Music, 637 E. Main St. Two local authors, Miriam Gershow and Melissa Hart, are hand-selling books they love and signing some of their own books.

■ Pages and Purrs Adoption Event, 1-3:30 p.m., Fern Ridge Public Library, 88026 Territorial Rd., Veneta.  Children’s activities. Variety of rescue cats to meet.

■ CG Humane Society “Pins for Pets” Fundraiser, 5-9 p.m., Cottage Bowl, 740 Row River Rd. Inaugural Cosmic Bowl and ‘Caught in the Act’ Karaoke with Jared. Standard prices for games & shoe rental. Bring your family and friends, bowl a few games, sing a few songs, and help raise funds to support pets in our community.

■ Coast Fork Public Market High Vibe Gathering, Noon-2 p.m., 926 E. Main St. The gathering features heart-warming discussions, wisdom sharing, book trading and lots of positive energy that fosters an atmosphere of belonging. Join a special interest group. MONDAY, APRIL 28

■ NARFE meeting, noon, Sizzler, 1010 Postal Way, Springfield. The local chapter of the National Active and Retired Federal Employee Association is joining Oregon State University Extension Service Master Gardeners Susan Primak and Pat Patterson to talk about “Adaptive Gardening with Less Stress and Strain.” Open to the public. 

■ Willow Workshop, 1-4 p.m., Center for Rural Livelihoods, 80574 Hazelton Rd., Cottage Grove. The Center for Rural Livelihoods is teaming up with the Willow Conservancy. Learn about the practical use of willow in the landscape as well as the benefits of willow as a tool against the adverse effects of climate change.

WED., APRIL 30

■ El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day), 2:30-4 p.m., Cottage Grove Public Library, 700 E. Gibbs Ave. A celebration of children, families, and reading. Storytime and free book giveaway.

Native American Cultural Presentation with Deitrich Peters of the Grand Ronde Tribe, 4:30-5:30 p.m., Eugene Public Library, 100 W. 10th Ave. Free. Seating limited; arrive 10 minutes early.

■ Chamber Open House, 5-7 p.m., Springfield Chamber, 101 S. A St. Network with peers and community partners, catch up with your fellow Chamber members and staff, participate in fun activities, win prizes, and grab a bite to eat and drink.
