Community events hosted by libraries happening next week:
■ Creswell Public Library is hosting Grownup Games at Blue Valley Bistro on Wednesday, April 23, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Expect an evening of board games including Scrabble, Bananagrams, Jenga, Catan, Ascension, and Wingspan. Blue Valley Bistro will sell food and drinks, but no purchase is required to join in on the fun. Everyone is welcome. Bring a spouse, friend, partner, husband, wife, childhood friend, no friend, or new friend, and have some fun playing games.
■. El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day). Springfield High School’s Mariachi del Sol and local ballet folklorico group Raíces de Oregon will be among the performers. There will also be children’s activities, food, and a free book for every youth that comes.
■ Cottage Grove also has plans to commemorate El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day). South Lane School District and Friends of the Cottage Grove Public Library are partnering to celebrate Día on Wednesday, April 30, from 2:30-4 p.m. at 700 E. Gibbs Ave. There will be a storytime and a free book giveaway at this event.
