COTTAGE GROVE – After conducting a nationwide search, the South Lane School District Board of Directors selected Todd Miller as the next superintendent on Monday.
The decision was made during a special board meeting on March 31.
Miller most recently served as Superintendent of Santiam Canyon School District in Mill City, where he has worked since 2013.
In a news release, board members stated they selected Miller because “he brings a comprehensive background in education,” having worked as an instructional assistant, special education teacher, principal, and superintendent over the last 23 years.
He is also the leadership coach for school administrators and served as executive director for Oregon Connections Academy, the largest online K-12 charter school in the state.
Taylor Wilhour, South Lane School District Board Chair, said Miller was selected “from a pool of exceptional candidates in a nationwide search” and is recognized statewide for his achievements.
Miller attended the University of Oregon and earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science. He then completed his Master of Science in Special Education from Western Oregon University and his Professional Administrator License from Portland State University.
In the 2023-24 school year, the Oregon Small Schools Association named Miller Administrator of the Year.
“I am truly honored by the opportunity to join the South Lane School District,” Miller said in the statement. “This is a wonderful place. I am excited about the rewarding partnership with South Lane’s staff and community, united in our commitment to students and families. I look forward to supporting this community and its schools.”
Miller will assume his role as South Lane School District Superintendent on July 1.
Brian McCasline had been serving as interim superintendent at South Lane School District since the resignation of Yvonne Curtis in May 2024.
