Barbara Ellen Reeves, age 91, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025 from congestive heart failure. She was born in Mariemont, Ohio on August 10, 1933, to parents John and Beatrice (Caudell) Nelson.
Barbara graduated from Eugene High School in 1951. She married John Reeves on September 5, 1970 and lived in Cottage Grove, Oregon for 24 years before retiring and moving to Bend, Oregon in 1993. She considered her husband her best friend and they spent several winters in Arizona. They returned to the valley in 2011 and resided in Creswell, Oregon.
Her greatest joy in life was her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She loved them beyond words and displayed the true meaning of unconditional love, along with loyalty, patience, and forgiveness. Barbara enjoyed camping, hunting, bingo, painting, crossword puzzles, and an occasional visit to casinos.
Barbara was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was a past member of The Women of the Moose #874, holding a WOTM College of Regents Degree and Star Recorder Degree. She was also a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW #3473.
Barbara is survived by sons Michael Henry and James (Becky) Clayton of Cottage Grove, Timothy (Dadra) Henry of Oakridge, step-son David Reeves of Cottage Grove, daughters Kathy McMillin and Colleen (Rick) Woodke of Creswell and step-daughter Sylvia Miller of Payson, AZ. She is also survived by sister Jeannie Campbell of Springfield and sister-in-law Dorothy Centers of Eugene.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Reeves, sons Kelly and Pat, daughter Theresa, grandchildren Holly and Chad, great-grandson Graham, as well as siblings Jo Dunsmoor, John Nelson, and Ralph Nelson.
Per her request, there was no service. A private family gathering was held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 597 S Front St, Creswell, OR 97426.
