SPRINGFIELD – The Chronicle, the only locally owned hyper-local newspaper focused entirely on Springfield, Cottage Grove, Creswell, and Pleasant Hill, continues to expand its distribution footprint across the southern Willamette Valley.
Albertsons and Safeway grocery stores – all nine locations from Eugene to Cottage Grove – will now carry The Chronicle’s weekly print edition beginning this week.
While the weekly paper and its website cover rural and small towns near Eugene that otherwise lack any media attention, Eugene residents continue to subscribe to the paper and chronicle1909.com.
“The fact we’re gaining subscribers in Eugene speaks to how hungry readers are for credible news about their families, friends, and neighbors,” said Noel Nash, publisher. “We’re honored to have Albertsons and Safeway join our local retailers in supporting the important role a newspaper has in the community.”
The Chronicle has been available in every Dairy Mart store from Springfield to Cottage Grove and Creswell to Pleasant Hill for more than a year – that’s over 100,000 in foot traffic each week.
The Chronicle recieves its support from subscribers to the print and online editions, advertising and marketing, and its Legal Notices. The Chronicle Foundation – a 501(c)3 nonprofit – also helps fund the paper’s coverage of education and nonprofits in our communities.
Albertsons and Safeway join Papa Murphy’s Pizza and Kendall Subaru as national brands who sponsor hyper-local news and information in The Chronicle and across its digital platforms.
“The interest in our reporting and coverage is further proof that print is far from dying; our content is unique and differentiating, and people want to consume it in print and on digital,” Nash said.
