MOUNTAIN VIEW 42, THURSTON 8
■ RECAP: The No.3 Cougars ended the Colts’ postseason in the first round of Class 5A playoffs. The Colts (7-3) finish the season at No. 15. Coach Justin Starck emphasized injuries took a toll on his players. “We had a great group of kids,” he said. “It was just an injury-riddled season and it really took a toll on the kids. Especially the linebackers, who were just decimated.
“By our last game against Mountain View, we had to start backup JV linemen and most of our players on the field were JV. Next year, we’re really going to focus on strength training and recovery to offset this.”
He saluted his seniors and their season send-off. “The seniors gave everything they got,” he said. “From Noah Blair to David Macdonald to Noah Zanotto, I could go on and on about them.”
Thurston graduates 15 seniors from this year’s roster.
