Go2: Things to do in the southern Willamette Valley Oct. 24-Nov. 4 (not scary!)

October is Walktober for Lane County and there are walking events all over the county for the whole month. To find or start a walking group go on wewalklane.org.

■ 1888 Society’s 2024 Speaker Series: Dr. Deann Dartt, 6-7 p.m., 1680 E. 15th Ave., Eugene. This event is in collaboration with The Museum for Natural and Cultural History to share how museums can align with Native American goals and values.

Cottage Grove Lions Club meeting, noon, Stacy’s Covered Bridge Restaurant,  401 E. Main St. Optional: $12 for lunch.

■ Walk ‘n’ Talkers, 9 a.m.-noon, Campbell Community Center, 155 High St., Eugene. This self-led group walks 3-5 miles at a quick pace. Free.

■ Acorn Circle Native American Program Learning Sessions for Kids, 1:30 p.m., Springfield Public Library. For early release Fridays, kids will have crafts, stories, and watch a short video. Free. Curriculum by the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, adaptation and teaching by the staff of Singing Creek Educational Center. Teachers and parents welcome.

■ National Active and Retired Federal Employee Association Luncheon, noon, Sizzler Restaurant, 1010 Postal Way, Springfield. Annual Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) and new Postal Service Health Benefits (PSHB) programs Health Fairs. Federal Health Insurance vendors will participate in person and via Zoom. Open to the public.

■ Last Friday Art Walk, 6-8 p.m., Downtown Cottage Grove. Free.

■ Teen Night, 6-10 p.m., Creswell Clubhouse, 364 Cobalt Ln. Grades 6th-12th can do crafts, computer games, volleyball, pool table, open gym, nintendo switch, VR, and more. Sign the parent permission slip on the website to join for all events. Dinner is $5 and snacks are $1. 

SATURDAY, OCT. 26

■ South Valley Farmers Market, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at 7th and Main St., Cottage Grove. Local produce, food, live music, arts, and more.

■ Food For Lane County Farm Stand, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., FFLC Youth Farm 705 Flamingo Ave., Springfield, every Saturday through Oct. 26. Crops grown by local youth farmers. Card, cash, and SNAP Match accepted.

■ Harvest Tea, 2-4 p.m., Dorris Ranch, 205 Dorris Street, Springfield. Enjoy tea, treats, live music, and a photo booth. Registration is required at willamalane.org. 

■ Harvest Festival: Health & Wellness Fair, 2-5 p.m., 1305 5th St., Springfield. Free just register at forms.gle/UACDGWyzi

■ Lego Club for Kids, 2:30 p.m., Cottage Grove Library, 700 E. Gibbs Ave. Available for ages 5-12 to hang out, make lego creations, and let us display it in our display case by the Children’s area.
