LTD takes 13k folks to the OCF
Over 13,000 people took Lane Transit District buses to the Oregon Country Fair in Veneta. Saturday, July 13 had the highest ridership, with about 5,200 attendees.
“The Fair brings thousands of merrymakers to the area, many of whom made the climate-friendly choice to take LTD to those famous woods west of Eugene,” said Anni Katz, LTD’s public information officer. “Riding LTD means a reduction in traffic on Highway 126, and less idling cars at the site looking for parking.”
According to the International Energy Agency, cars emit between 57 and 322 gCO2-eq/pkm—compared to buses at just 22-92 gCO2-eq/pkm. Full buses emit 0.18 pound of CO2 per passenger mile, making them comparable to rail.
According to the City of Eugene, one full 40-foot bus equals a line of moving automobiles stretching six blocks.
