On May 18, 2024 Bob and Alma Beck celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with many friends and family. They met in Darmstadt, Germany in 1973 shortly after Alma arrived as the civilian program director for the Army Service Club at Kelly Barracks. Bob had been assigned there for two years as a lieutenant with the 547th Combat Engineer Battalion. They were married May 18, 1974 in Vancouver, Wash. while home on leave as Bob was being transferred; they spent their first year together with the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea. Bob grew up in Newport, Ore.; Alma grew up in Vancouver, Wash. — 140 miles from each other. Their three sons Dane, Duncan, David, wives and six grandchildren put the effort into making their celebration a memorable one. Bob and Alma now live in Otis, Ore.
