Helen Lee went to Heaven to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 25, 2024. She lived to be 102. She was known as a beloved mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.

She was born on Nov. 9,1921 in Marble City, Okla. and grew up in Stilwell, Okla. Stilwell is where most of her family was from and where she married her lifelong sweetheart Glenn Lee on July 27, 1940. They celebrated many milestones including reaching 60 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2001.

Helen, Glenn and their kids moved around between the West Coast and Oklahoma until finally settling in Cottage Grove in 1947. They built a house on West Main Street, then built a farmhouse on Lynx Hollow and lived there for more than two decades.

Helen dedicated her life as a loving homemaker and raising children and many grandchildren. She enjoyed farm life and all that came with it. She enjoyed the small-town life of Cottage Grove.

One of her passions was cooking and she had hundreds of saved recipes from over the years. She showed love through making visitors a yummy meal. She was a wonderful baker and made the best buns in the whole world.

Helen was a member of the First Baptist Church congregation. She was a faithful Christian and found great comfort in her relationship with God. She enjoyed many prayer groups over the years and swapping recipes with her church friends. She listened to her hand-held bible every night before bed.

She had many interests including quilting, playing card games like Solitaire and gardening. Spending time in the garden, while watching and feeding the neighborhood squirrels and birds, brought her lots of joy. Some of her favorite flowers were clematises, tiger lilies, irises, sweet peas, and wildflowers. She enjoyed photography and had many albums of family photos from over the years.

She was an avid NBA fan and enjoyed watching her favorite team, The Golden State Warriors. Her favorite players included Steph Curry and Draymond “Mr.” Green.

Helen leaves behind her children and three generations of grandchildren who miss her greatly. We mourn her passing but take comfort in knowing she is at rest with her husband.
