Marguerite “Marge” Williamson

Marguerite “Marge” Williamson passed away peacefully in her sleep Christmas day 2023 at the age of 97. Born and raised in Chicago, she met and married Bob Williamson during her first year of nurses training. They moved from Chicago, Ill. to Salem, Ore. in the late 1940s and would eventually move to Eugene after Bob completed his optometry studies.

In the late 1970s, they moved to Creswell where they lived for 30-plus years. She raised six children and was married 67 years until Bob’s death in 2012.

Marge is also preceded in death by son, David; daughter, Sydney; and daughter, Kathy. She is survived by son, Rob and wife, Tina; son Jeffery and wife, Jen; son, Jim; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marge achieved many accomplishments in her life. After her children were grown, she earned a Masters degree in Early Childhood Development at the University of Oregon and would go on to be one of the founding board members for the Birth to Three program, as well as working with Head Start, Food for Lane County, the Relief Nursery, Creswell Historical Museum, and the Old School House restoration project. She was also a skilled grant writer who was able to procure funds for many more charitable non-profit organizations.

A service to honor Marge’s memory will be held Feb. 10, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at Creswell Presbyterian Church, located at 75 S. 4th St., Creswell, OR 97426.
