Drifters win, split series on the road; Pickles next
The Springfield Drifters had a two-series road trip in Washington last week. The Drifters went 2-1 against Wenatchee; Steyr Brinkley gave up two hits in 5 IP in Game One, then pitcher Rylan Haider had 7 Ks in Game Three. The Drifters were scheduled to play a three-game series at Port Angeles, but had game one canceled due to rain. Springfield then split the two-game series, moving to 6-2 overall on the season. The Drifters have seven games in eight days this week. Springfield finishes a home series against Wenatchee on Thursday before heading to Portland for a series against the Pickles Saturday-Monday. The series against Wenatchee is the Irish Fishing Club series, so fans with IFC gear receive free admission.

Two Springfield athletes at Nike Outdoor Nationals
Bailey Tovey of Thurston High and Adrian Estes of Hamlin Middle School will both be competing this weekend at the Nike Outdoor Nationals held at Hayward Field. Tovey will be competing Saturday for javelin and the emerging elite group, one step below the championships, in the shot put. Estes will be competing in the 1-mile run on Thursday.
