Pleasant Hill Softball: Pleasant Hill’s season came to a close last week in the quarterfinals of the Class 3A state playoffs. Last Wednesday, the Billies took down No. 11 Glide 6-4 in the first round. Pleasant Hill trailed 4-1 entering the bottom of the 5th inning, but scored 5 runs over the next two innings. Bella Black pitched 7 innings and had 10 Ks, while Raigan Obie had 4 hits and 2 runs. On Friday the Billies traveled to No. 3 Burns, who was on a 56-game winning streak going into the game, and fell 10-0. Kiley Campos had the only hit of the game for the Billies.

Pleasant Hill baseball: The Billies baseball team also fell in the quarterfinals last week, but not before pulling off an upset in round one. Pleasant Hill traveled to No. 5 Yamhill-Carlton on Wednesday and won 5-2 thanks to Caden Richardson’s 8 Ks and Brasen Holliday’s 3 hits, 1 run and 2 RBIs. Then on Friday, Pleasant Hill traveled to No. 4 Brookings-Harbor and lost 8-2. Richardson had 2 hits, 1 run and 1 RBI while sophomore Alejandro Ziolkowski had 6 Ks on the mound.

Thurston baseball: The Colts are the last remaining team in the area after winning both of their games last week. In round one Thurston took down No. 15 Hood River Valley 4-3 behind Grady Saunders’ 10 Ks, 2 hits and 1 run. The Colts then hosted No. 7 Lebanon on Friday and won 4-0, again thanks to great pitching. Connor Molony pitched a full-game shutout with 10 Ks as Thurston advanced to the semifinals. The Colts host No. 3 Wilsonville on Tuesday night, after the newspaper deadline, and will advance to the state title game with a win.
