Lynne Dianne Motley passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the age of 72 after falling ill. Lynne was born on Nov. 23, 1950, in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1955 upon the death of her father. She naturalized as a citizen in 1994. She pursued a career with the State of California as a paralegal until retirement in 2013, at which time she moved to Cottage Grove.
Lynne loved “The Grove,” its small-town life and was active in the “Soups On” program. She was dedicated to her spirit companion, Mummers, whose life story was chronicled in the Cottage Grove Sentinel (March 5, 2014).
She adored her niece with whom she shared a sister-like relationship. Lynne cherished a good time. Her loss is felt deeply by all close to her.
She is survived by niece, Harmony MacGregor, brother, Donald MacGregor, sister-in-law, Kathleen MacGregor, and by her social partner, Dallas Brannon. Memorials can be made in the name of “Lynne & Mummers” to the Cottage Grove Humane Society. Arrangements in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.
