Cottage Grove: The Lions had a tough week, going 1-4. Cottage Grove fell to No. 3 Marist 15-1, No. 16 Junction City 13-3 (twice), before splitting a doubleheader against Class 5A Parkrose. In Cottage Grove’s 13-12 win over Parkrose, Isaiah Cushman had 2 hits, 3 runs and 3 RBIs, while Christian Spear chipped in 2 hits, 3 runs and 2 RBIs.
Creswell: Creswell’s only game last week was a 12-0 loss against No. 14 Santiam Christian. Coby Contreras had 4 Ks in the loss, and Tyler Pratt singled in the 2nd inning for Creswell’s only hit of the day.
Pleasant Hill: The Billies went 2-1 in an important series against No. 9 La Pine, the top team in the Mountain Valley Conference. In game one, a 7-1 win, Caden Richardson had 8 Ks to go along with 2 hits and 2 runs. Game two was a 12-5 loss, Brasen Holliday leading the way with 2 hits and 3 runs. Game three was an 11-5 win for Pleasant Hill as Hunter Allen and Blake Richardson both finished with 2 hits, 2 runs and 2 RBIs.
Thurston: Thurston extended its winstreak to 14 with a series sweep against No. 18 Churchill. Game one was a 10-0 win thanks to a 7-run 4th inning. Connor Molony had 5 Ks and 3 hits, while Eli Crist had 2 hits, 2 runs and 1 RBI. Game two was the first of a Saturday doubleheader, with Easton McDonald securing the 8-7 extra inning win with his walkoff RBI single. Jacey Roberts had a 3-run homer in the second inning in the win. Game three, the second of the Saturday doubleheader, was a 20-1 blowout win. Maddox Molony and Kyle Miller both had homer runs in the final game.
Softball
Cottage Grove: The Lions fell on Tuesday to No. 12 Marist 13-9 before sweeping Junction City in a doubleheader on Wednesday. Emily Pacheco had 8 Ks in the loss for Cottage Grove, while Addison Hitt had 4 hits, 2 runs and 2 RBIs. In game one against JC, a 4-2 win, Pacheco had 16 Ks and Hitt had 2 hits, 1 run and 3 RBIs. Game two was a 9-5 win, Pacheco again starting and recording 12 Ks to go along with 3 hits, 3 runs and 2 RBIs.
Creswell: Creswell went 1-2 last week, losing on Tuesday to Class 4A Junction City 11-4 and losing on Wednesday to No. 7 Dayton 11-6 before beating Santiam Christian 7-5 on Thursday. In the win over SC, Hope Ukolov had 6 Ks as well as 1 hit, 2 runs and 2 RBIs. Lauren Bailey chipped in 2 hits , 2 runs and 1 RBI in the win.
Pleasant Hill: The Billies dominated their Mountain Valley Conference series against La Pine, winning the three games 16-0, 21-1 and 16-1. Bella Black had a great series, recording 5 hits, 2 runs, 6 RBIs and 7 Ks. Raigan Obie also had a great week with 6 hits, 9 runs and 4 RBIs.
Thurston: Thurston swept a series against Midwestern League foe Churchill, winning the three games 13-3, 14-3 and 19-3. Freshman Syren Ferguson continued her great season with 6 hits, 7 runs, 3 RBIs and 8 Ks in the series. Gabriella Montes had a stellar showing as well, recording 6 hits, 9 runs and 6 RBIs across the three games.
