HSSZ: Recaps + Results/Schedules

Softball

Pleasant Hill: The Billies went 1-1 last week, beating Sisters 13-5 before falling to No. 6 Harrisburg 16-10. Bella Black pitched the entire game against Sisters, allowing only 6 hits and striking out 9. Shyanne Fenley led the way on offense with 2 hits, 3 runs and 1 RBI. Pleasant Hill had a solid start against Harrisburg and were leading heading into the 6th inning. Harrisburg scored nine runs over the last two innings however and took home the win. Raigan Obie had 3 hits and 2 runs in the loss and Karley Bloxham had 9 Ks.

Springfield: Springfield nearly got in the win column in a doubleheader on Saturday against Churchill. The Millers fell in the first game 20-15. Emma Patrick-Busby had 3 hits and 3 runs, while Abagaile Carlsen and Lily Plumb each had 2 hits, 1 run and 3 RBIs. In the second game Springfield lost 10-8. Holly Arendt had 2 hits, 1 run and 2 RBIs in the loss, while Josie Briere had 3 Ks.

Thurston: The Colts had a perfect start to league play, beating No. 20 Ashland three times. Thurston won the first matchup 8-7 last Tuesday thanks to the hitting of Emily Spain (2 hits and 4 runs), Kendall Miller (2 hits and 4 RBIs), and Bailey Tovey (3 hits and 2 RBIs). Then on Saturday Thurston won both games of the doubleheader, 13-3 and 15-5. Sadie Decker had 4 hits, 3 runs and 4 RBIs in game one and 2 hits, 2 runs and 2 RBIs in game two. Spain chipped in 4 hits, 3 runs and 2 RBIs in game two as well.

Baseball

Creswell: Creswell got its first win of the season on Saturday, a 15-7 victory over Harrisburg in the second game of a doubleheader. The Bulldogs used a 6-run 6th inning to secure the victory. Evan Jenkins finished with 3 hits, 3 runs, 3 RBIs, and 8 Ks. Landon Palmer chipped in 2 hits, 2 runs and 3 RBIs in the win as well.

Pleasant Hill: The Billies took down Harrisburg 14-4 last week before falling twice in a doubleheader at No. 3 Sisters 4-0 and 10-2. Hunter Allen (3 runs), Caden Richardson (2 runs), and Dominic Weimer (2 runs) all scored multiple times in the win. In the first loss at Sisters, Richardson struckout 6 and in the second loss Alejandro Ziolkowski had 5 Ks.

Springfield: The Millers had a tough start to the league season last week, falling to No. 14 Churchill three times. In the first game last Wednesday, Springfield fell 15-5 behind Churchill’s 10-run 2nd inning. Alex King and Noah Roemen each had 2 hits and 2 RBIs in the loss, and King scored twice. In a Saturday doubleheader Springfield fell 11-2 and 5-3. In the first loss Zack Sherman had 1 hit, 1 run and 1 RBI. The final game was the closest of the series thanks to Roemen and Gabriel Laird allowing only 8 combined hits in the game.

Thurston: Thurston started league play well last week, sweeping a three-game series against Ashland. Last Tuesday the Colts headed to Ashland and won 4-0 thanks to a full-game shutout by Connor Molony, who ended the game with 8 Ks. On Saturday Thurston hosted a doubleheader. The first game was a 5-1 win, spearheaded by Eli Crist’s 2-run single in the bottom of the 5th inning, while Grady Saunders had 11 Ks. The second game of the doubleheader was a 2-1 win in extra innings as Adam Elliott stole home on a catcher error in the bottom of the 8th inning.
