Carol Marie Williams, 86, of Cottage Grove, Ore. passed away Feb. 21, 2023. She was born Sept. 7, 1936 in Los Angeles, Calif. to parents Donald and Lucille (Benjestorf) Roddy. Carol graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1954.
She married her high school sweetheart James “Jim” Williams on July 14, 1957 at the Cottage Grove Methodist Church. They celebrated 63 years together until James’ passing in 2020.
Carol and Jim started their family in 1961, and she was able to stay home and be a mother. Carol had a passion for art, she was an artist and enjoyed using oil paint, pencil, and chalk. She drew a lion using pastel chalks years ago and recently donated it to Cottage Grove High School.
Carol and Jim enjoyed working together refinishing beautiful antique furniture. They enjoyed the outdoors together camping, fishing, and traveling to Canada. Carol was a loving mother and always put family first. She was very selfless in the way she cared for her children and family. Family was everything to Carol.
She volunteered for the American Cancer Society, and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cottage Grove. She loved Jesus with all her heart and knew that He was waiting for her.
Carol is survived by her son Mark (Debbie) Williams of Saginaw, Ore.; daughter Randi (Randy) Naiman of Eugene, Ore.; daughter Tracy (James) Tooze of Junction City, Ore.; brother Donald Roddy of Enumclaw, Wash.; and grandchildren Miles, Brianne, Dustin, Donielle, Addison, Natalie, and 6 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, and brother Gregory Roddy.
There will be a private family memorial service held at a later date. Arrangements by Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.
