Thurston and Central tied in the Class 6A/5A Coed Game Day routines with final scores of 124.50, meaning they became co-champions. In doing so, Thurston added their 12th state championship to the program’s storied history. Boys Basketball

Cottage Grove: The Lions went 0-2 last week, losing to Marshfield 72-57 and North Bend 60-47. Against Marshfield Brennen Murphy led the way with 20 points, Cole Kishen scored 12, and Gannon Leach added 8. Murphy led the way against NB as well with 15 points and Kishen chipped in 10.

Pleasant Hill: The Billies went 3-0 to close out their regular season play last week, beating No. 20 Sisters 63-47, No. 14 Harrisburg 51-39, and Siuslaw 78-41. Gaving Inglish led the way against Harrisburg with 26 points and 10 rebounds, then added another 26 points against Siuslaw to bring his season total points to 508 – seventh all-time for a sophomore in Oregon.

Springfield: Springfield fell last week 57-30 to No. 10 Ashland. Freshman Jayden Robinson led the way for the Millers with 8 points.

Thurston: Thurston’s only game last week was a 77-54 loss to No. 5 Churchill. Walker Bonar led the team in scoring in the loss with 20 points, while Hunter James chipped in 9 for the Colts.

Girls Basketball

Cottage Grove: The Lions went 1-1 last week, losing to No. 4 Marshfield 45-26 before breaking their 13-game losing streak with a 45-38 win over North Bend. Mariah Bailey and Jaylee Lima led Cottage Grove in both games. Bailey scored 15 against North Bend and 12 against Marshfield, while Lima put up 11 points against NB and 10 against Marshfield.

Creswell: Creswell went 3-0 in Mountain Valley Conference play last week, securing a top-three finish and automatic playoff qualifier. In a 61-35 win over Sisters, Samairah Quinones led the Bulldogs with 19 points, Dakota Carson scored 10, and Lauren Bailey chipped in 9. In the 51-30 win against Elmira, Quinones led the way with 13 points and 5 steals and  Carson added 13 points.

Springfield: The Millers went 2-0 in the Midwestern League in dominant fashion last week, beating No. 14 North Eugene 55-35 and Ashland 81-25. Danaeja Romero-Ah Sam led Springfield against NE with 23 points, 7 steals and 5 assists, and followed that up with 10 points, 6 steals and 6 assists against Ashland. The star against Ashland though was JB Robinson, who put up 27 points and 7 steals for the Millers.

Thurston: Thurston’s lone game last week was a 43-40 win over Churchill. Freshman Addison Nelson led the way for the Colts with 15 points, Bailey Tovey added 8 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists, and Kylie Jones chipped in 8 points.

Wrestling

  • Creswell and Pleasant Hill boys competed at the Class 3A Special District 3 championships at Pleasant Hill last weekend. Pleasant Hill came in third at the competition, while Creswell finished 10th. Pleasant Hill was led by Eli Anderson (138) and Gavin Hoellrich (152) in first, and Gavin Haratyk (120) and Boone Marquess (126) in second. Creswell leaders were Lyosha Mitchell (113) in second and Kaleb Sanders (138) in third.
