Roger Toner

Oct. 30, 1938— Jan. 23, 2023

Roger Toner passed away peacefully at his Springfield, Ore. home Jan. 23, 2023. He will be terribly missed by his families.

After graduating high school, Roger served in the Coast Guard and went on to a successful career in the building industry that culminated in inspecting Coast Guard facilities.

He enjoyed golfing, fly tying, hunting, traveling, fishing, and was quite happy being a bachelor; but nonetheless, he leaves behind many who consider him their second dad.

Roger would do anything for his sister Marilyn, his brother Don and wife Marlene; when they had Lee, Keith, Mike, Debbie, Linda, Scott, Brad, and Mark, Roger naturally helped with the parenting. He attended countless baptisms, graduations, recitals, sporting events, and was always there to take them boating, hunting, and on trips.

When Roger retired, he thought his days of helping raise a family were over, but he was adopted by 5-year-old Kyle and his sister Meagan who lived across the street. Roger again found himself taking youngsters boating, on trips, and to other fun activities. Mike and Molly appreciated the help in raising their children and they welcomed him into their family.

At 84 years old, Roger again found himself with an adoring baby on his knee because Megan’s son, Castiel, took a real liking to him. The feeling was mutual.

We were all blessed to have this wonderful man in our lives.
