Phyllis Rae Miller, 88, of Cottage Grove, Ore. passed away Nov. 18, 2022. Phyllis was born Jan. 6, 1934 in Sandpoint, Idaho to parents Thomas and Gladys A. (Reece) Litrenta.
The family moved to Cottage Grove when Phyllis was a young child.
She married Jay Miller on Nov. 22, 1952 in Reno, Nev. They would have celebrated 70 years of marriage.
Phyllis was one of the first to be hired at Georgia Pacific Tree Farm and retired after 25 years of working there.
She was a master at crocheting and knitting. She created many beautiful items for family and friends.
Phyllis was an avid bowler and she enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting. She especially enjoyed elk hunting and was very proud of her first five-point bull elk.
Phyllis enjoyed playing cribbage, Yahtzee, pinochle and other card games while all the cousins played outside.
She was a member of the Elks Auxiliary and Mosby Creek get-together club.
Phyllis is survived by her husband Jay; son Richard (Sharon) Miller of Cottage Grove; daughter Nancy (Ike) Shepherd of Cottage Grove; daughter Sally (Greg) Lassiter-Cash of Cottage Grove; daughter-in-law Joyce Miller (wife of Steven) of Cottage Grove; 11 grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers and four sisters; her son Steven Jay Miller passed in 2019. A graveside service was held at Brumbaugh Cemetery.
