Aug. 30, 1996 — Nov. 14, 2022
Brian David Richards Miller, 26, born Aug. 30, 1996 was a member of the Cottage Grove houseless population who passed away on Nov. 14, 2022.
He was born in Hammond, Indiana and placed with Charles Darren Richards and Danietta Louise Umber (Richards) at the age of 4. He was adopted into the family a few years later.
As a child, Brain was an energetic young man with a good sense of humor. He was very loyal to his friends and had a sensitive heart.
One Christmas, he saved up two dollars to buy his adoptive mother a pair of white gloves and a matching scarf from the dollar store. He was so proud of himself, and it’s one of his family’s favorite memories of him.
Friends who knew him described him as “goofy,” and someone “with a big heart.”
Toward the end of his life he spent time living in Trailhead Park and the overflow camp with his friends. He’s remembered for his laugh and his love of the outdoors.
Brian had a large extended family. He is survived by his siblings Charles David Richards, Summer Shaleen Richards and brother Kenny Miller; Cousins Cody, Jordyn, Marissa, Aiden, Vince, Greg, Makayla, Kirsten, Brandon, Dixie, Ashley, Amanda and Aryn; Grandparents Donald Hardy Allen, Evelyn Joyce Allen, Howard Chuck Richards and Lila Anne Richards; Uncle Craig Hinman, Aunt Dee Hinman, Aunt Renee Counts, Uncle Steve Counts, Aunt Debbie McIntosh, Uncle Scott McIntosh, Aunt Heather McIntosh, Uncle Corey McIntosh, Aunt Kellie Stoble and Uncle Mark Stroble.
