Lorraine Virginia McConnell

On Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, Lorraine Virginia McConnell, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at the age of 89, just six weeks shy of her 90th birthday.

Lorraine was born Dec. 15, 1932, in Washington, D.C. to Florence and William Thomas. 

In 1935, she moved with her parents and brother, Tony, to the West Coast, first moving to Portland, Ore. and then later relocating to Cottage Grove, Ore. in 1942. 

Lorraine was a talented seamstress and owned an upholstery business for many years, as well as serving the community of Cottage Grove as a bus driver for South Lane School District for 19 years.

Lorraine was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and a Living Faith Assembly of God member. She was a longtime member of the Masonic lodge. Lorraine loved to laugh and be social and she also adored beautiful things. Crystal, fine jewelry, and getting her hair and nails done were among her favorite things.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her former husband, George Lee Tucker, and daughter, Connie Yearous Smith. Lorraine is survived by her current husband Dale McConnell of 18 years, former husband, Gilbert Yearous, and eight children, including Paul (Janet) Yearous, Virginia (Ed) Smith, Mark (Eileen) Yearous, Kathleen (Larry) Moore, Yvette (Lee) Blue, Madelyn (Aaron) Baker, Gina Wilson, and Joe (Brandy) Tucker; 24 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held in her honor.
