Kassaundra Marie Mosquera Newton of Cottage Grove, Ore., passed away on Sept. 4, 2022 at RiverBend Hospital.
She was born on July 22, 1989 at Cottage Grove Hospital and only recently celebrated her 33rd birthday. After attending school in Junction City, she returned to her roots to graduate from Cottage Grove High School in 2007. She remained in the area for the past 16 years.
Kassi, as her family and friends called her, enjoyed simple pleasures during her childhood and into her adult years.
She received joy from gathering with loved ones, camping in scenic forests, eating her Dad’s special barbeque chicken and family-style sushi, while consuming quantities of wasabi that would make most mortals cry.
She also loved singing songs with her guitar or uke, and making comedic videos for the benefit of all who knew her. Anyone spending time with Kassi would find themselves in fits of hysterical laughter because of her rapid-fire humor.
Kassi is survived by her mother, Joanna Jarvis, stepfather, Lanty Jarvis, her father, Larry Newton, stepmother, Joanna Newton, sister, Liz Newton, brother, Albert Newton, grandmother, Paula Talbot, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Everyone who knew and loved Kassi will remember her for the lively joy she brought to them – she was unforgettable.
