Dennis Bergman

June 23, 1940 – Sept. 18, 2022

Dennis Bergman, 82, of Springfield  died Sunday, Sept. 18. He died of age-related causes = to dementia. He died close to family in a peaceful manner. He was born in Poulsbo, Wash. on June 23, 1940. 

He is preceded in death by father Roy, mother Ellen, sisters Kathy and Beverly and brother Duane. Survived by wife Bonnie, sons Dean and Kevin, grandchildren Jordyn, Riley, Adrian, Madelynn, Conner, Bryson and Eivan and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dennis was in heavy construction for nearly 50 years. He worked on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline in the late 70s, which at the time was the biggest construction project in the world. 

He was a member of the local 121 union for over 40 years. After retiring from heavy construction, he spent several years working all kinds of different jobs to keep himself busy during the first part of his retirement years. He enjoyed many hobbies including the most important of all, hunting season. He enjoyed going hunting and spreading his knowledge of the hunting grounds with family. Other hobbies include, woodworking, yardwork, firewood cutting and he enjoyed spending summers at Wickiup Reservoir camping with family.

The early years of his life were all about sports throughout his school years. He was an outstanding athlete in multiple sports including football, basketball, and baseball at Oakridge High School in the late ’50s.He was a very generous kindhearted individual who would give the shirt off his back for anyone. He had a vibrant personality and genuinely wanted the best for everyone. He loved and cherished everyone in his family no matter what the circumstances were.
