○ K9 Pool Party, 1-3 p.m, Aquatic Center 1440 S. 8th, Cottage Grove. $20 per dog, includes a goody bag and raffle ticket. Proceeds fund Tucker’s Cupboard. JULY 30-31

○ The 28th annual Blackberry Jam Festival, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., 107 E. 3rd St. in Lowell. Free. Parade, car display, quilt show, fishing derby, horseshoe tournament, craft and food vendors and live music. Highlights include the festival’s pie-eating contest and greased pole climbing competition. There will be a Kidz Korner filled with games, activities, entertainment, water fun to keep cool, a magician show and more.

MONDAY, AUG. 1

○ Annual Symphony in the Park concert series at Bohemia Park in Cottage Grove, 8 – 11 p.m. Free.

TUESDAY, AUG. 2

○ National Night Out in Springfield, 6 – 8 p.m. National Night Out is an opportunity for neighbors to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors and enjoy an evening with neighbors in the community. Celebrations are typically organized around a barbecue, potluck, ice cream social or other neighborhood gathering.

○ National Night Out in Creswell, Harry Holt Park, 5 – 7 p.m. Free food, live demonstrations, dunking booth, armored vehicles and canines.

○ Yoga Night with Lisa Linnell-Olsen, 6:30 p.m. at the Creswell Grange, 274 W. Oregon Ave.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 3

○ Lego Club for Kids, ages 5-12, 2:30 p.m., Cottage Grove Library, 700 E. Gibbs Ave., Cottage Grove.

○ Melissa Ruth and the Likely Stories playing at Coast Fork Brewing and Feed Store, Cottage Grove, 6:30 p.m.

MONDAY, AUG. 8

○ The local chapter of the National Active and Retired Federal Employee Association (NARFE) meeting, Sizzler Restaurant on Gateway Blvd. in Springfield, at noon. The program will focus on the upcoming NARFE elections, proposed bylaws, amendments and grassroots advocacy plans for August.

TUESDAY, AUG. 9

○ Yoga Night with Lisa Linnell-Olsen, 6:30 p.m. at the Creswell Grange, 274 W. Oregon Ave.

THURSDAY, AUG. 11

○ SPRINGfilm: Come see the showing of Jurassic Park (1993), 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Richard E. Wildish Community Theater, 630 Main Street, Springfield.

SATURDAY, AUG. 13

○ Free Movies in the Park, Harry Holt Memorial Park, 8:15 p.m. No tickets are required. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and picnics. Children must be accompanied by adults. No glass containers, alcohol, smoking, or pets. Show times start at dusk.

○ Outdoor fitness classes at Dorris Ranch, 9-10:30 a.m. There will be a warm-up through the orchards then a Willamalane fitness instructor will lead a workout that will strengthen and center you. Healthy and light breakfast will be served. Cost is $6 in district and $7 out of district. Sign up for each class individually.

○ Hooligans Cars and Coffee, 8-10 a.m. 1660 Centennial Blvd. Springfield. Join us for our monthly cars and coffee! We will be serving up hot coffee and checking out cool rides. This event is open to all makes and models.

○ WOE-The Western Oregon Exposition Family Fair is a wholesome traditional fair event that includes fair entries & exhibits; food & live entertainment; vendors & antique engines; kids games, 4-H animals, and more! In past years, it has also been home to lumber competitions and pageants.

SATURDAY, AUG. 13

○ Lorane Community Potluck at the Lorane Grange. Doors open at 10 a.m. and lunch begins at noon. Bring your favorite dish and plan to kick back, spend some time eating what has, historically, been a delicious lunch, and get to know and visit with friends and neighbors.

SUNDAY, AUG. 14

○ Lorane Ice Cream Social hosted by the Lorane Fire Department. Come sample the wonderful ice cream and pies, participate in the many activities, including a dunk tank and rides on the fi re truck, and enjoy local entertainment and more visiting with friends and neighbors.

FRIDAY, AUG. 19 – AUG. 20

○ Lorane Community-wide Yard Sale. The organizers are still signing up those who want to add their own sales at their homes to the map that will be available at each stop. Sign up at [email protected]. Include your name, phone number and the address where you will be holding your sale, plus hours and days of your sale. For those who prefer, there will be outside spaces for rent in front of the grange for $10. This annual community event is sponsored by the Lorane Grange and the Lorane Community Association.

SATURDAY, AUG. 6

The Crow Grange’s annual “Joe’s BBQ” will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. The popular dinner is $12 and includes a ½ chicken, potato salad, baked beans, roll, lemonade or coffee, and ice cream — unfortunately there will not be corn-on-the-cob this year, as it will not be ready in time. According to Connie Suing (541- 556-2609), “Classic Country will be playing music for us and we will have a few classic cars in our top lot for your viewing pleasure. Come join us as we celebrate our little community of Crow, Oregon.”
