Jerry M. McCollum, Nov. 12, 1941 – June 1, 2022
Jerry M. McCollum, 80, of Cottage Grove, Ore. passed away June 1, 2022. Jerry was born in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Nov. 12, 1941, to parents Alva and Mattie (Wesley) McCollum. He graduated in 1960 and attended college for a degree in music. Jerry served in the Army as E-7 Bandsman, and he served our country during the Vietnam War. Jerry married Nancy S. Hicks in San Francisco, Calif., April 24, 1970. They were married 52 years. Jerry worked for the federal government at Centers for Medicare and Medicaid. Jerry enjoyed playing the trumpet in the Oregon Brass Society, writing poetry, gardening, and riding his bike.
Jerry is survived by his wife Nancy of Cottage Grove; son Michael and wife Christina McCollum of Plymouth, Minn.; and one granddaughter, Bella. Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel and Crematorium. He was loved by family and many friends, and he will be much missed.
