Son of John M. and Freda K. (Best) Garrelts, Harold Ernest Garrelts passed away on March 2, 2022 at McKenzie Willamette Hospital at the age of 85.
He was husband to Shirley A. (Clayton) Garrelts. They were married on June 20, 1959 and were married 62 years.
He was the father to Cynthia (Mike), Mickey (Cindy), and Greg (Sheila), seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and his pup, Prince. He leaves behind one brother and two sisters of 10 siblings.
Harold had lived in Springfield since moving from Nebraska in 1947. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1955. He was employed by Southern Pacific Railroad and retired from there in 1996.
He loved his family and always wanted what was best for them, he enjoyed camping and taking his grandchildren on trips when they were young.
Harold loved home improvement projects and working with wood. He was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan.
Gone ahead to greet him were his parents, four brothers, two sisters, his pup Princess, and his beloved son Mickey.
