Jo Stejskal (Etha Jo DeFoor) was born to R.R. DeFoor and Pauline Sizemore in Boles, Ark., on April 11, 1936. The family moved to Springfield, Ore. in 1943. She was graduated from Springfield High School and tied for third place academically in 1955.
