Rodney E. Barrett: July 20, 1927 – Sept. 19, 2021

Rodney, known to most people as “Johnny,” passed away while in Bristol Hospice Care at the age of 94. He is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Carol. He is survived by his three children: daughter Susie (Randy) Lott, son Rod (Jackie) Barrett and daughter Dale (Randy) Rosin,  grandchildren: Justin, Chad, Wendy, Libby and Neil and great-grandsons Hayden, Colton, Zach and Trevor, and great-great-grandsons: Levi and Ryan.

Johnny has a surviving brother, Raymond (Darlene) of Pacific City. His brothers Kenny and Hugh and sisters Avis and Crystal Ruth are deceased.

He was born and raised in Springfield and graduated from Springfield High School in 1946. He served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged with the rank of Seaman First Class.

Johnny worked for Georgia Pacific Corporation for 45 years. After retiring he took great pride in his gardening skills. His vegetable and flower gardens were admired by many. He was known by many area residents as the “Lawnmower Man”. He had a “gift” for repairing ailing lawn mowers. Fishing and golf were activities he enjoyed outside of his home. He got a hole-in-one that he was very proud of

Johnny, Dad, Grandpa will be greatly missed.

A private family service will be held.
