Alice Y. Miller, 86, of Creswell, Ore., passed away Aug. 12, 2021. Alice was born May 11, 1935 to Leon and Ruby Weddel in Holly, Colo. Alice married Richard Miller on Dec. 12, 1953 in Reno, Nev. Over the years Alice owned several businesses, including Ashby’s Ice Cream Parlor in Eugene, Walkups Market in Creswell, and Old Mill Farm Store in Cottage Grove.
After retirement, she focused on quilting and loved spending time in her garden among her roses and vegetables. She was a dedicated volunteer at the Church of Christ in Creswell, where she was a member.
Alice is survived by her husband, Richard, their children Kristine Hisey of Cottage Grove, Kelly Lehto of Sweet Home, Ore., and Tatiana (Kraig) Miller of Springfield, Ore., and her siblings Patricia Hefner of Dorena, Ore., Joyce Starr of Cottage Grove, Nancy Geissel of Portland, Sandra Jensen of Fall River Mills, Calif., along with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Jean Long.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Aug. 28 at 1 p.m. at the Christ of Christ in Creswell. Private Inurnment, Fir Grove Cemetery, Cottage Grove. Arrangements are in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel of Cottage Grove.
