Fern Louise Carpenter, 100, of Cottage Grove, Ore., passed on June 26, 2021. Fern was born Feb. 18, 1921, in Lynch, Neb., to parents Otis and Ethel (Whetham) Chapman. She graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1939. Fern married Edward B. Carpenter on Sept. 26, 1940 in Cottage Grove. They celebrated 66 years of marriage.
