EVENTS & INFO
• Meeting scheduled March 4 at El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant & Cantina in Cottage Grove, with Al Bennett presiding in Don Ehrich’s absence. Karen Rainsong, director from Singing Creek, is the guest speaker.
• On March 19 at Los Cabos Mexican Restaurant in Creswell, Creslane Elementary principal Amy Halley is the guest speaker.
• PNW (Pacific Northwest) District has kicked off a new fundraiser: a $100 raffle for a trip anywhere in the world, including airfare and a $5,000 debit card.
• The new Mustang raffle ticket sales start again in May, after Oakridge and before Florence.
• The chili cook-off and car show is July 25 this summer.

GRANT DISTRIBUTION
The club donated to five projects totaling $20,000:
• New Generation Science Standards. This will allow Springfield High to purchase materials for hands-on experience with elements of nuclear chemistry and physics.
• Spanish Language books and comics. This will allow the SHS library to add ~200 Spanish language items to its collection. Approximately 40% of SHS students are of Hispanic heritage.
• Sky Camp Outdoor School. This will provide approximately 80 5th-grade students with an outdoor experience promoting healthy living, outdoor sciences and art.
• State Leadership Conference. Helps cover costs for Thurston High’s SkillsUSA team. Skills included in the program are welding, sheet metal fabrication and cake decorating.
• Natural Resources Watershed Hydrology Project. This will pay for stream tables and other equipment to enhance Thurston High’s Oregon Natural Resource Watershed class.
