Sheriff’s Office looking into car break-ins

CRESWELL – A vehicle break-in spree on the west side last week began with a stolen car on North 1st Street and was followed by a flurry of vehicle break-ins.
The spree began on Thursday, Feb. 13, when a stolen car was reported at 7:30 a.m. at 911 N. 1st St. The car was recovered a couple days later on Dillard Road with the stereo system missing, according to Lane County Sheriff’s Sergeant Scott Denham.
Later that day, around 3:40 p.m. there was a vehicle break-in on 74 N. 3rd St., followed by another four minutes later at 940 W. Oregon Ave.
Another vehicle break-in was reported around 9 p.m. the next day at 715 Holbrook Lane, with another to follow on Sunday just after noon on Meadow Lane.
Denham said that stereo systems were stolen from most of the vehicles, and noted that some of the victims could not tell exactly what was stolen.
”Residents are encouraged to check their video surveillance from the past couple of weeks to see if there is suspicious movement captured on front yards or streets,” Denham said, noting that, as of Tuesday, deputies have video of a person breaking into a vehicle at one of the locations, which will help in identifying the perpetrator.
Residents are encouraged to send video to LCSO. Contact police at 541-682-4141.
