Betty J. Morris, of Creswell, passed away peacefully on Dec. 15, 2019 with her family by her side.
Betty was born April 29, 1931 in Jefferson, Ore., the fourth child of William and Bryda Vogt.
She was raised on a dairy farm in Salem, and attended a one-room schoolhouse for her first eight years. She graduated from Salem High School in 1948.
Betty was active in 4-H during her teens and young adult years and won many awards and several calves for her quality Jersey cows and showmanship. She never outgrew her love of cows, especially Jerseys.
She married George Morris, of Chewelah, Wash., in 1951, and together they raised six children. They later divorced.
Betty was a longtime resident of Springfield and a member of Springfield Church of the Nazarene. She was a woman of deep faith who embraced the idea of seeing her Lord and Savior at the end of her life.
Betty was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her favorite way to spend time was with her family. She was kind and gracious and will be remembered for her wonderful hugs and big smiles.
She is survived by her six children: Katherine Morris of Bellingham, Wash., Kay (and Malcolm) Doolan of Chiloquin, Ore., Karen (and Glenn) Leslie of Creswell, Ore., Kevin (and Janice) Morris of Springfield, Ore., Ken (and Penny) Morris of Pasco, Wash., and Kimberly (and Michael) Dias of Slade Point, Australia; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at All Things Good Church in Springfield at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019. A special ”Thank you” to Sacred Heart Hospice Services and the wonderful, loving staff of Creswell Health and Rehabilitation Center.
