Healthy debate worth having on Independence Day

I wish to thank Ms. McReynolds for her letter to the editor last week in response to my column about the Creswell City Budget. While I certainly don’t agree with her, I don’t intend to get into an argument, it just isn’t worthy to do so. My thanks are because people questioned Martha’s reason for writing, which caused those readers to re-read my editorial. Many have made it a point to tell me that they agree with my thoughts. So, thank you again, Martha.
Perhaps you know that we – Barbara and I – own electric vehicles. We are trying in our own small way to cut pollution in any method available to us. I’m not seeking legislation or desire to peruse any ideas to reduce employment. I do believe we can do more.
I believe there is a need for an electric car-charging station for autos to be placed in town. This would encourage more car owners to switch from fossil fuels to electric.
The state has a program for these stations, and be advised the electricity is not free. There are many activities this week to commemorate July 4th, ”THE BIRTH OF FREEDOM.” Let us not forget the real reason for this holiday.
We hope and pray that you have a glorious, happy and memorable day.
