Creswell’s Scott Smith, with his dog, Jersey, is ready to compete in the Gambler 500 Rally starting Friday, June 28. The off-road rally features cheap, impractical vehicles. The event first started in Oregon in 2014 and has since spread across North America. The Gambler 500 is also the world’s largest trail cleanup event. In 2018, contestants collected enough trash along the trails to fill three 40-yard containers. Smith’s team includes his son, Tanner Smith, 27, and Karl Gaines, of Creswell. Fans can follow the event in person and online. Check out gambler500.com.
