Creswell’s 4th of July is Out of This World – Deadlines approaching

The annual July 4 celebration is within sight, and the Chamber of Commerce is ramping up its planning efforts. That means participants and volunteers – especially volunteers – are being asked to step up their activities.
Deadlines are looming for all aspects of the citywide event, one of the largest public celebrations each year in Creswell and Lane County.
”We’re getting down to crunch time,” said Don Amberg, Chamber administrator. ”The focus now is our push for volunteers. They’re needed in every phase of the event.”
This year’s July 4 Celebration is incorporating the 50th anniversary of the United States’ moon landing, and the Chamber’s buttons reflect the milestone. The theme of the weekend parade and events is ”Out of this world!”
Key dates and deadlines are:
■ June 19: Logo/name on Banners & Float
■ June 17: Early vendor registration ends
■ June 25: Late vendor registration ends
■ June 27: Car show registration ends
■ June 27: Parade registration ends
The celebration includes a pancake breakfast, parade, events and vendor booths at Holt Park, and a car show, barbeque lunch and drinks at Emerald Valley Golf & Resort. A shuttle between Holt Park and Emerald Valley will be available.
Creswell Heritage Foundation will have an open house at the Old Schoolhouse on July 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is a chance to come on in and see the inside and learn more about the project before further restoration takes place.
To participate and/or volunteer in various activities, go to the Chamber’s website at CreswellChamber.com or call 541-895-4398.
